SOCIAL PRACTICES

Since 2012, alongside my research, I have been conducting artist-in-residence projects where I explore the numerous possibilities of collaborative, shared, and “co-created” works. The resulting works are the product of a three-way collaboration in which the audience, the organization, and the artist work together to find a point of intensity and a sense of balance. Each time, it’s a unique opportunity for me to discover new territories, encounter fresh perspectives, and bear witness to a commitment that lies at the intersection of politics, education, and aesthetics. Although this work is often carried out within an institutional framework, it resembles a social practice. What also inspires me is the possibility of opening everyone up to the practice of image and text: no longer merely consuming a constant stream of information, but becoming a creator of one’s own imagination. This is the “democratic comfort of beauty”—a way to reaffirm one’s place in the world.
